Alberta has an independent automobile regulator to regulate automobile insurance rating programs across Alberta. That's right it regulates what insurance companies can charge consumers. In other words they are supposed to keep the insurance companies that provide you with automobile insurance honest and don't gouge you.
One would imagine that's a pretty carte blanche scenario, after all it is independent - isn't it?
So why does the AIRB need to advertise? Remember, advertising's main purpose is to grab your attention and convince you to want, do, think something that gently guides you to act in a certain way. It indirectly affects your behaviour, shapes your perceptions, working to take you in a certain direction. AIRB isn't supposed to sell, market or advocate, it is a regulator.
Has it suddenly dawned on the Government boondogglers there that it is their fault that automobile insurance in Alberta is expensive and out of line with those provoinces that have Government controlled automobile insurance. As you are aware, this Government institution doesn't appear to be doing a very good job,
In a fit of desperation the AIRB has launched an advertising campaign on TV at our expense. Is it to explain, get you to think and gently guide you as to why automobile premiums in Alberta are so expensive? Don't be silly!
Have you seen this advertisement? If so have you managed to figure out what it is all about. Airbnb must be thrilled at the free adverising it is getting. Perhaps the members of the AIRB are trying to figure out the difference between their AIRB and airbnb so that it can use the management at airbnb to control auto insurance premiums in Alberta.
With insurance fraud on the rise, wouldn't the Government insurance boondogglers be better off spending the money we pay in taxes to control the scam artists and educate us on how to avoid being duped by them.
After all it takes one to know one!
